The expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC) included in the American Rescue plan has already had a dramatic impact in reducing child poverty in the United States. The CTC has also quickly become a means for mothers who are victims of domestic violence or at risk of losing their children to the child welfare system to find economic stability, thereby increasing the likelihood they could live independently and safely with their children. FUTURES strongly supports the continuation of the CTC and language ensuring that it remains refundable to the lowest-income families and that it covers all children regardless of immigration status.
